Rila National Park Trekking – 4 Days

Day 1 – Arrival in Sofia & Transfer to Sapareva Banya
Arrival at Sofia Airport.

Optional sightseeing of Sofia, one of the oldest cities in Europe:

St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral

Ancient ruins of Serdika

St. George Rotunda

National Theater and other highlights

Transfer to Sapareva Banya (~1.5 hours).

Check-in at Hotel Via Lakus.

Overnight in Sapareva Banya.

Day 2 – Seven Rila Lakes
Breakfast at the hotel.

Transfer to Panichishte chairlift station (~2 hours) and ride to the trailhead.

Explore the Cirque of the Seven Rila Lakes (2,100–2,500 m), famous glacial lakes forming a stunning alpine scenery.

Panoramic views of Vitosha, Osogovo, and Stara Planina mountains.

Relax in the natural hot springs of Sapareva Banya (home to Bulgaria’s only natural geyser).

Dinner at a local restaurant.

Overnight in Sapareva Banya.

Activity duration: 4 hours (including breaks)
Ascent/Descent: 400 m / 400 m
Level: Easy

Day 3 – Hiking to Musala Peak (2,925 m)
Transfer to Borovets Resort (~1 hour).

Take the cable car to Yastrebets Station (2,360 m).

Trek along the ridge to Musala, the highest peak in the Balkans (2,925 m).

Panoramic views of Deno (2,790 m), Shatar (2,495 m), Ireczek (2,852 m), and the Musala summit.

Approximate trek duration: 8 hours (vertical gain: 560 m)

After the hike, transfer back to Sofia.

Overnight in a 3* hotel in Sofia.

Level: Moderate to challenging

Day 4 – Eyes of God Cave & Kayaking on Zlatna Panega River
Optional half-day trip (if your flight is in the evening).

Transfer to Prohodna Cave (~1.5 hours), also known as Eyes of God Cave.

Famous karst cave with two naturally formed “eyes” in the ceiling of the middle chamber, creating a unique view of the sky.

Kayaking on the turquoise waters of Zlatna Panega River, with a picnic in a forest meadow.

Transfer to Sofia Airport for departure.
